Vendémiaire plot

It is September 1918. The First World War is coming to an end but nobody is aware of it. Among the grape pickers working on the Castelviel estate in the south of France are several refugees from the north, who have been forced from their homes by the war. These include Father Larcher and his two daughters, Martha and Mary, as well as Pierre Bertin, a soldier on convalescent leave. In addition, there are two escaped German prisoners, Wilfried and Fritz, who pretend to be Belgian and threaten to disturb the peace.
