Magritte ou la Leçon de Choses plot
An artist's portrait of the Belgian surrealist painter René Magritte that is based on a didactic narrative form. The artworks are shown in a series that is interspersed with images of the artist at work or in his daily activities, while his ideas are commented on by the voice-over. As in Magritte's paintings, parallels are drawn between objects, their representations and the words that refer to them. Pictorial images and film images interact and contradict each other, creating a game between the works of art and the way in which they are staged by the filmmaker.
