Down to the Sea in Ships plot
An aging, deeply religious Quaker sends a ship out into the ocean to hunt whales. His eldest daughter will take over from him, but will have to marry Samuel Siggs, an upstart who is about to defraud her father. Meanwhile, the shipowner's granddaughter sneaks onto the whaler and has the adventure of her life.
