Shameful.
Totally unnecessary remake of the much better animated film. All old-fashioned charm has been exchanged for a plastic world of dead CGI, in which every (voice) actor can fall through the cracks. In addition to the CGI, this new version has also been given a modern look in other areas, but it would have been better not to have made this. It is hard to believe that this was written by Robert Zemeckis, once good for decent cinema.

Pinocchio, the next Disney project to turn the usually quite creative animation films into a soulless live-action full of dead CGI version. You can see the cry for the exit in the eyes of the human actors. The film stays pretty close to the original, only it is made a good half hour longer. And those extra scenes don't add much more. Because usually they don't revolve around Pinocchio either, but it is to give the Hollywood stars on duty more playing time. Although I must say that Kyanne Lamaya as ballerina Fabiana was one of the few nice additions. The playful animation to the rhythm of the music, which Disney was good at at the time, makes way for bland cameos to their own Disney stable. The cat Figaro and the fish Cleo are also completely reduced to unimaginative extras.
The CEOs of the big movie studios nowadays only think in terms of sequels, franchises, prequels, spinoffs and reboots. So Pinocchio won't be the last remake of a classic. And if that's still done well, that's okay with me. But this is just remaking the movie with a computer and overpaid actors without any imagination or creativity.
