Vanessa Hall lives in New York and places foster children in families. It's a job that fits Vanessa like a glove, as she herself never knew her father and lost her mother at a young age. Vanessa does a DNA test and sees that there is a match with Richard Hendricks who, according to the results, must be her father. Richard is married and has three other children. He asks Vanessa to come over for Christmas. Vanessa accepts his invitation.
