Hazanavicius comedy about a zombie horror film consists of three parts. The first part is the Final Cut of a remake of an Asian horror film about a film crew who fall victim to a real zombie curse during the shooting of a zombie horror film. The middle part is a flashback in which we are introduced to the cast and crew of that horror film and describes the run-up to the shooting and partly makes it clear how and why the result (which we have just seen) was not too good. In the third part we follow the cast and crew during the shooting of the film and explain a lot of things that you probably already noticed in the first part. Much less complicated than it is. The first two parts are quite tame and hardly interesting, especially for those who have already seen some satires about the film world. Yoshiko Takahara and Yumi Narata provide some entertaining moments as the original's co-producer (and patron saint) and her interpreter, respectively, but you'll have to wait until the third installment to get a real laugh. So puts your patience to the test and the question is whether it's worth the wait. I was glad that there was finally something to laugh about at all. A child's hand is quickly filled, shall we say.

I thought I saw something along the lines of the Flemish Yummy or even The dead won't die. None of this, because this Coupez! skip your best. Crappy movie that I regret watching. The acting is lousy and the scenes are so ridiculous that they miss the humor.

The only thing that brought some panache were the various (repeating) takes that try to mislead the viewer, whether it concerns a film scene or reality. For the rest it is little soup. It wasn't scary, nor was it funny.

Nice film in which a film crew is busy shooting a zombie movie. A film with a somewhat problematic, but necessary structure. Original and the last part is the best, but this requires the intentionally worse first part. Entertaining, even if the humor during the middle part is not always funny.
