The opening of Burial promises an unpredictable and original war thriller, but director Ben Parker ultimately opts for an extremely routine outcome. A large part of the film takes place in a darkly lit village and/or forest, which makes many of the confusing action moments dead. As a viewer you barely get anything from the spectacle and the scenario (also by Parker) deviates considerably from the essence that the film seems to want to introduce. The event must be told from the perspective of (a decent acting) Charlotte Vega, but in the end this is regularly alternated with random figures. Unfortunately, these kinds of sloppiness mainly set the tone, so the whole thing can only benefit from the good acting and the mysterious first half hour. The final phase consists of a drawn-out action scene that goes nowhere, as a viewer I often wondered why Parker didn't just stick to the thriller side of the event. It was significantly more effective than the drama and/or violence.
