How painfully bad this is. At first I thought this could be something, but you'd rather listen to Gordon for an hour than watch this monstrosity. And that husband of hers. What an empty bagpipe that is. Skip that bite.

New filmmakers who want to make a career in the horror world often face budget shortages, making it difficult for their ambitious ideas to get off the ground. However, the opposite is true with Unwelcome, director Jon Wright's third horror film. There is a strong feeling here that there was simply too much money left, which caused the last 15 minutes in particular to completely derail and simply become meaningless. Douglas Booth, Colm Meaney and Jamie Lee O'Donnell deliver very solid performances and manage to provide the film with some flair, but the imaginative horror ideas never go together optimally with the more realistic ideas. Wright's team really works hard with the practical effects and the film looks visually well-thought-out, but there is too much of a good thing going together in Unwelcome. If the last fifteen minutes had been deleted, I could easily have given this a passing grade.
