Rock Against Racism (RAR) was founded in 1976 in response to a rise in racist attacks on the streets of the UK and growing support for the far-right National Front party at the polls. White Riot combines new interviews with archive footage. Attention is paid to anti-immigrant hysteria and National Front marches. While neo-Nazis recruited the country's youth, RAR's multicultural punk and reggae performances provided rallying points for resistance.

Rock Against Racism (RAR) is about the turbulent late 1970s in which the economy is bad in England and a racist political party responds by pointing the finger at people with a different skin color. They go far in there with links to fascism and Nazism. It was already known that punk was a rebellious voice against the establishment and economic crisis, but fortunately they also joined the fight against racism. The documentary also lets the artists speak, but focuses mainly on the message of RAR and is not just another festival with The Clash, which also has a positive message behind it.
