The air is thin, the weather is bad, the terrain is difficult and these animals are almost impossible to find, let alone film. Nevertheless, the documentary makers have succeeded in tracing and portraying snow leopards at high altitudes, on the snowy mountains of China. The world population is estimated at only 4000 individuals, making it an endangered species.

The first of two making-of documentaries accompanying Disneynature's Born In China; the other is Expedition China. This is the more interesting of the two, especially since the documentary focuses on the hardships of the makers in their frantic efforts to trace and image snow leopards in the desolate Chinese mountain landscape. The extremely rare and endangered animals only show themselves after months and prove to be very difficult to track. Miraculously, the team eventually succeeds in capturing beautiful shots of these fascinating and wonderful beasts. Surprisingly enough, the creditable voice-over is by director Antoine Fuqua.
