A film that still makes you long for Jar Jar Binks. And that's not a good sign. You can say what you want about The Last Jedi, it was visually quite worthwhile at times. And in itself still original, which did not go down well for fans who just want to see the same film 100 times. With Rise of Skywalker, the makers mainly try to meet the 'fans'. But then with storylines of Last Jedi to turn back a bit or to give a ridiculous explanation. And then a bunch of hollow cameos. Half of the characters just don't care.
Rise of Skywalker is sometimes still well made, but in general just boring and nowhere visually very beautiful. The ending is disappointing. The film has become the Dark Phoenix of the franchise. The series has been pushed out like a cigarette butt. A film for the fans, but they are already going wild with a baby Yoda, the toddler muppet who has to take care of the ratings. Too bad, because there are a few good actors in the film and I don't doubt the qualities of the people in the crew. Maybe think less about the money and get a little more creative?

Bad.
Amazing how quickly something with potential can be killed. The relaunch after the prequels was promising - even if it was more of the same. The adventure of The Force Awakens should have been continued, but with the illogical choices at the end of The Last Jedi, the schwung had already disappeared from this series. I had no idea how JJ Abrams was going to solve this and didn't watch any trailers, etc. beforehand.
Unbelievable what choices have been made here. The re-entry of Palpatine is a huge blunder, isn't it? Making Rey's granddaughter goes the extra mile. The circles that are turned by this are unbelievable. Of course The Force Awakens had that too, but there you had the feeling that enough new elements and characters could make a new series interesting, but at the end of the ride nothing of that remains. Poe? Lousy addendum. Finn? Lousy addendum. And so there are plenty.
Worst Star Wars movie in the entire series and quite disappointing considering there are countless opportunities in the "universe" to make something cool and new, with enough nods to the original films. Bah. Also a shame about the technology that is now so advanced that it visually offers all opportunities for these films.

Finally seen too. As expected, it doesn't amount to much. We go from space battle to space battle, the interrelationship between the events is very weak, there is anyway little logic and plausibility in this trilogy compared to the earlier trilogies (especially the original ones). And also here are some ideas from the original trilogy that are reused such as revealing that Rey is the daughter of the antagonist, and Kylo Ren sacrificing himself as a Darth Vader for Rey.
A number of characters are pushed back a lot in this film, especially the annoying Rose Tico (Tran), which has caused a lot of outrage on some progressive American sites, but the role of Finn (Boyega) is also not really substantial. The question of whether these characters should have been introduced in the first place arises, because they don't seem to be essential. In particular, Finn is no longer really to be taken seriously as an object of love from Rey, given her bond with Kylo Ren especially given the kiss. But before that I thought the character of Lupita Nyong'o was only introduced so that Rey could switch to Kylo and Finn wouldn't end up empty-handed, but that's not how it works out no matter what Nyong's role is 'o makes little functional.
The only bright spot is the return of Palpatine, which is a very nice role from McDiarmid. But how that is done is also disappointing. We already read about his return in the prologue of the film, while this could have been a nice surprise halfway through. Clearly a case of shooting your gunpowder.
This trilogy has become less per film. Episode 7 got 2* from me, episode 8 got 1.5*, this last episode 9 got 1*.
