"Will Earth wait for us?"
In the near future, a global catastrophe wiped out virtually all of humanity. 200 years have passed since the earth became uninhabitable as a result. Only a few people could be moved to an inhospitable planet. An astronaut from space is sent on a mission to find out if a return is possible.

Very beautiful and attractively designed, but unfortunately this science fiction film is very slow and the plot is not exactly fascinating and/or original. Lead actress Nora Arnezeder is excellent and everything looks so impressive in terms of lighting and sets that it is worth watching. But the whole thing is on the boring side.

Fehlbaum clearly borrows from Alien, Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome and even Silent Running, but is nevertheless hardly worth it.

Hipster future fairytale.
In terms of atmosphere, the film reminds me quite a bit of IO (2019). A millennial girl dealing with a lot of very complicated father complexes in an apocalyptic environment. Yet there are also differences, especially in the visual style that in Tides carefully follows the muddy color of the clay.
Arnezeder is fine in her leading role, and gets plenty of counterplay from the rest of the cast. The tempo is again very slow - apparently that is part of the genre. The apocalypse is coming, but not too quickly - the times of the present are behind us.
