To all those who give Marvel films 5 stars and this one 2.7: shame on you.
I'm so tired of the bunch of Marvel films that I warmly welcome a good relaxing film like this.
I find the dialogues downright refreshing. Dry humor, flashy. But not always understandable for the average person. It is the dialogues and the dynamics between the two main characters that do it.
The fighting itself should actually be seen as "creating atmosphere"
As I said: the whole of action and dialogue creates a dynamic between the main characters that I like. I find it un-Holywoods that they die at the end, but it is part of this film. So no second part... phew
That the good get punished and the bad get away with it... well.
That's often the case in life.
In short... I enjoyed it.

After quite a long time I was in the mood for an old-fashioned action film again, as a 16 year old I used to be crazy about that and Steven Seagal was my hero.
I happened to see The Debt Collector on Netflix and I thought why not, let's just give the film a chance and luckily it turned out better than I expected. The Debt Collector harks back to those glory days of the 80s and 90s and also contains a lot of fights in the old-fashioned Van Damme/Seagal way. So many fist fights, lots of blood and many broken limbs. Even a nice nude scene.

The story is obviously predictable, but it also serves as nothing more than a framework for the action and "development" of the characters.
Scott Adkins & Louis Mandylor also form a nice duo, the joy of playing also seems to radiate from both gentlemen.

The Debt Collector does what it has to do, a lot of action and some cheesy one-liners in a not too long time with an unoriginal but entertaining plot. Fine! I think there will be a part 2. ( Although that is of course not going to be an easy task since both characters die at the end. )

3.5*

A nice fight scene every now and then, but otherwise very mediocre. The actors are all a bit colorless and the film never comes alive. In the end, despite the images having a reasonable atmosphere, I was quite bored. And three days later I don't remember much about it. 1.5*
