Reminded me of Záhrada (1995) - MovieMeter.nl. Here too it seemed as if the main character met a number of persons who stand for a certain thought more than they are actual persons. Like the "anthropologist" Werner with the direction to the west and the egg. We'll see if that applies to more encounters in a while.
Nice ending too. Didn't he come that bitch for nothing, and was he still able to save her life.
And for the Goethe/Mozart lovers:
und sterb' ich denn, so sterb' ich maar
durch sie, durch sie

Separate western, actually quite brutal in itself, both in the interaction between the characters and during the beautiful finale on which we are rewarded Still have to recover for a while. Also a beautiful story about a young Scotsman in search of his beloved in a country where there is no love. The American continent is no place for romantic souls and noble feelings, all the more for survivors and thugs. It is slow and the first half hour was difficult for me, but in the end the film gains in intensity. Coen-esque as the poster says best defines this movie.

Disappointed me unfortunately.
Lots of boring, interesting dialogues and ditto voice-over. An attempt has been made to make it something original, but it often comes across as forced. Some of the choices are completely wrong from the character's point of view (Jay shooting a young woman in the back, leaving the kids to their own devices). There are certainly some nice scenes in between, but too few to really convince.
The acting itself is fine, but it doesn't help much.
Camera work and music are regularly eye and ear pleasing.
