A lady-in-waiting tells the prince in his palace a metaphysical fairy tale, set in the 13th century surrounding the mysterious murder of the Tsar's son in the forest. The characters in the fairy tale – all witnesses to this violent crime – each tell a different version of the events. They throw different light on what really happened.
