The film follows Franz Jägerstätter and his wife Fani who live in the idyllic Austrian countryside and is told through real letters from the war. The couple finds themselves at odds with the members of their close-knit town, the church, their government and even their friends. The conscientious objector Franz refuses to fight for the Nazis, which ultimately turns out to be a dramatic choice.

Terrence Malick brings us another terrible combination of (admittedly) phenomenally filmed beautiful pictures and endless pseudo-philosophical pretentious sermons, this time in the form of letters that Franz and his wife Fani write to each other. The inevitable end comes more than two hours late in this marathon broadcast of 'Discover Your Place', which almost makes you wonder who suffered more: Franz or the viewer. Take a pillow with you and do not hesitate to take a long toilet break several times, you will not miss anything. Skipping is also an option to seriously consider.

Matchless movie. For me one of the best movies ever. Do you dare to stand for something? And can that cost what? Lots of depth and symbolism. The beautiful Austrian nature, the beautiful shots and the calm, yes almost meditative pace complete the film. And I'm not even talking about the music. Does anyone know if this movie is available on DVD yet?
