I feel like a bit of an insensitive jerk right now. Anorexia is of course very bad, but despite a well-intentioned subject I found To The Bone extremely annoying. Partly that's my fault, I think - I really can't really imagine how someone comes to anorexia (or bulimia), and after watching To The Bone I still have just as little idea about it. Yes, Ellen has anorexia, and the other people in her treatment home have similar problems, but neither in Ellen's case nor in the other examples, I now understand better how this is achieved. I also didn't notice much of character development during the film. To The Bone also feels like one of those 'inspirational' true social dramas that Net5 and those kinds of channels want to broadcast, and that doesn't make me very happy either. I would have liked a little more insight into what drives someone to this, but To The Bone unfortunately didn't succeed.

Meh. The film clearly tries to draw attention to anorexia, or at least to give an impression of what the life of an anorexic patient and her family is like. It doesn't really interest me that much. I'm not entirely convinced either. Skinny as Collins may be, she doesn't exactly look like a real anorexic. And I also can't do much with her character. Yet another character with problems and an unwillingness to tackle them until a catharsis presents itself. The only one that still provides some humor is Sharp's character, and even that character annoys me at the same time. 1*.

Thought it was a pretty mediocre film, quite boring and left me quite cold, certainly didn't have the impact like a series like '13 reasons why'.
