It turned out that I had already seen the beginning of this film, the fight scene in the disco. so horribly bad that I threw in the towel that first time and didn't look further.

But now I wanted to see what Jet Li was brewing. Nice, but not enough to finish it off completely.

However, that reason was given by Anthony Anderson. That was top shelf enjoyment, that guy played the stars of heaven. I'll let him come back in a role like that one more time.

“Sorry Romeo, but you gotta die.”

Decent action movie. Romeo Must Die sometimes tries to come across as overly tough and especially the music is too present. But the film also has moments when it calms down a bit and the story and characters are developed more. It's not very deep, but especially the relationship between Jet Li and Aaliyah works well. The story is ridiculous and the other actors aren't great, but of course it's also about the action scenes. The action is strongly portrayed and even funny, but why the director sometimes opts for unrealistic and terrible CGI fight scenes is a mystery to me. With Jet Li you don't need that at all.

Another standard action movie that doesn't do much wrong... except stick out. Jet Li forms an atypical duo with the long-dead Aaliyah. I thought the R&B star was there in the film, by the way. Romeo must Die quickly falls into the trap of predictability. It was immediately clear to me who the real baddies were and who were not; strangely enough, little is done to disguise it, and yet the identity of the villains seems to come as a surprise. The action scenes, ranging from martial arts to car chases, aren't brilliant but entertain properly. Conclusion: nothing bad, nothing special.
