Quite a good action movie (the fact that this is also called a horror movie makes no sense). The momentum is good and the action is also quite fat. Arnold Schwarzenegger is back on track, but Gabriel Byrne was the star in this movie for me. The story was quite original but it just needed to be developed better.

Good film, also because Arnie plays in it of course. Seen this film several times and never gets bored. You can't say that with many movies today. the film industry has long since passed its peak. good actors and directors are rare. remakes are made to attract pure audiences because good movies from the old days have the name. no remake can match the original. but I'd rather watch an older movie that's good and I've seen it 10 times than that shit from today!

Not to be taken with alcohol. Remember that...

Despite its considerable age, I can remember seeing it in the cinema at the time, still an extremely entertaining and atmospheric film.

A particularly apocalyptic image is created around the turn of the century, here and there with some stupid or silly things like for example Schwarzenegger on the cable from the helicopter, not a strong scene, and all the explosions like when Byrne walks out of the restaurant and later Bobby and clean up a copcar. It's just too much. Nevertheless, the film has very nice ingredients to be the first to mention the very charming Tunney, Byrne is formidable as a devil and Schwarzenegger is also in good shape in a not a-typical muscle bundle role but as a gloomy ex-cop. Obviously not the most polished actor, but he arouses a certain empathy and sympathy. Rod Steiger also worth mentioning, who immediately adds something as soon as in the picture.

An excellent image is initially created with the girl in a kind of web and Arnie who takes care of her. There are some interesting and good scenes like Byrne in the hospital and the ending of the priest with that apple is beautiful and the near destruction of the church looks fine too. Also the scene where Byrne tries to persuade Arnie in his flat, he sells it nicely to say the least. Furthermore, the soundtrack stands out as fitting but the ending feels a bit forced because he only had to hold back for a few minutes. All in all, in this way there will be talk of peace and closure.

Definitely not a topper of course but from time to time very entertaining even though the film could have thrown a little more emphasis on the occult.
