With this debut film and with "The Rider"—and I think her "Nomadland" will be no different—Chloé Zhao shows America in a slightly different light than we are used to.

An intimate yet raw film about contemporary life in a reservation, in which the realization that there is no escape from that life persists and every attempt to do so crosses the psychological pain threshold.

The girl's disappointment is beautifully portrayed, as is the urge to make a countermove when she realizes she is not the only one in her brother's life; equally beautiful is when he makes his ultimate decision, just like the resignation radiating from the others: there is no other way.

Filmed on location with quite a few unknown people in the cast, which certainly does not detract from the authenticity of the story.

Stunning nature images.

A good film about a brother and sister living on the reservation with their mother. The entire community in which the two find themselves is portrayed realistically here with little embellishment (nevertheless, the film certainly contains a few beautiful shots). It does take a while for this directorial debut by Chloé Zhao to really get going.

What a beautiful film by Zhao again. I only just saw this one, but I also thought The Rider and Nomadland were truly stunning films. I didn't finish watching Eternals though, because it wasn't really my thing, but this one is gorgeous...
