As a child, Nessa Stein saw her father become the victim of an assassination attempt by the armed wing of the PLO. Now in her thirties, Nessa is literally very close to the Middle East peace process. As a self-employed person, she has done much—partly out of idealism, partly out of business interest—to help build an atmosphere of reconciliation between Israelis and Palestinians. She has even been ennobled for her efforts. But when the brand new Baroness awards an extremely lucrative contract to a Palestinian businessman, she has to endure a lot from several sides.
