Metal Evolution plot

Metal Evolution presents twelve episodes based on the much-discussed Metal History "family tree" originally featured in "Metal: A Headbanger's Journey". This genealogy of 24 subgenres reveals the hugely complex progeny of heavy metal, from Early Metal and Shock Rock to Thrash, from Progressive Metal to Grunge and Nu Metal. Using the map as his roadmap, our host, metalhead, as well as anthropologist Sam Dunn, will traverse the world in search of the essence of Metal, from bars and alleyways to the biggest open-air festivals.

Metal Evolution season 1

Large-scale documentary series about the origin and development of metal music, divided into twelve episodes that deal with a certain period and/or subgenre. A feast of recognition for metal fans, but also for the uninitiated, the series has a lot to offer, especially due to the nice no-nonsense approach of presenter and director Sam Dunn. Of course you do miss a band here and there, for example Machine Head and Devin Townsend shine through their absence, but even with twelve episodes not everything can be covered. From glam to thrash and from grunge to death - this is fun!
