Who Pays the Ferryman? plot

Alan Holdane, better known to the islanders as Leandros, returns after 30 years to Crete, where he fought with the partisans in World War II. He wants to take stock of his life, and decides to look for his beloved Melina from whom he has heard nothing for all these years. When his old friend Babis tells him that Melina has died and that he has a daughter, Alan decides to live on the island to be close to his new family. When he meets Annika, Melina's sister, he falls in love with her. However, he has not taken into account the hatred of the elderly, fake Katerina Matakis who is rekindling an old feud, putting his life in grave danger. Torn between fear and desire, Alan slowly but surely frees himself from the past.

Comes across a bit stale and old-fashioned, but up to episode 7 I think it has enough strong elements to not bother me too much, just like the many scenes that were clearly recorded in the studio. But in the last episode, I'm getting too confused when Annika gets as cheesy as her mother (unsurprisingly maybe, but okay) and all of us Leandros goes war path for an old-fashioned game bittersweet revenge. Had he really been in love back in time, he couldn't have waited to go back after the war, couldn't he?

Just three stars then.
