War of the Worlds plot

When astronomers detect a transmission from another galaxy, it is definitive proof of intelligent extraterrestrial life. The world's population awaits further contact with bated breath. They don't have to wait long. Within days, humanity is nearly wiped out by a devastating attack; survivors of humanity are left in an eerily desolate world. As the aliens hunt to kill the last humans, the survivors ask a burning question - who are these attackers and why do they want to destroy us?

Interessant uitgangspunt. In plaats van veel actie kiest de serie voor een meer psychologische benadering. Tot op zekere hoogte werkt dit wel. Ik kan goed met de personages meeleven (vooral met moeder- zoon en de blinde dochter). Het acteerwerk is meer dan degelijk. Het probleem is dat de serie nooit echt heel spannend wordt en het tempo vooral na de eerste twee afleveringen te traag is. Het einde is ronduit zwak en een anticlimax. 3,0*

Interesting premise. Instead of a lot of action, the series opts for a more psychological approach. To a certain extent this does work. I can empathize well with the characters (especially with mother-son and the blind daughter). The acting is more than decent. The problem is that the series never really gets very exciting and the pace is too slow especially after the first two episodes.

The ending is downright weak and anticlimactic.
