Vargasommar plot
Hannah Wester, a police officer from Haparanda, Sweden, makes a macabre discovery when a dead wolf is found with human remains in its stomach. The deceased appears to have ties to a bloody gang war in Finland. The discovery soon turns out to be the first in a series of brutal events that shake the small border town to its foundations.

The Swedish six-part Cry Wolf is the brainchild of Hans Rosenfeldt. Rosenfeldt occasionally writes books, in addition to his work as a screenwriter (The Bridge, Marcella, Advokaten). The story of Vargasommar is not a typical Nordic noir thriller. At times excruciatingly slow, with a heavy dose of violence, deadpan humor, and plenty of silent acting, it demands the viewer's patience. The routine crime story is Fargo-esque, interspersed with compelling characters and a single mysterious plotline. Intriguing.
