The Stand plot
An apocalyptic world has been ravaged by a massive outbreak of a government-created virus called "Captain Tripps". Within a few weeks, 99% of the population has been wiped out. The fate of humanity rests on the frail shoulders of 108-year-old Mother Abagail and a handful of survivors. Unlike the previous miniseries, this modern version of 'The Stand' ruins all its chances from the start. The series, which does not do justice to Stephen King's magnum opus novel, suffers from non-chronological jumps, a lack of attachment and a monotonous - albeit novel, gritty and more detailed - atmosphere, which means that - while the cast is appropriate, the effects work and the music intriguing - the series cannot compete with the warm and emotionally stronger character-focused journey the miniseries once offered ."
Sadly my final grade turned out to be a 5.7/10. So, no matter how annoying, this will be a 3*/5.
