The Split plot

The Split is about the fast-paced circuit of powerful female divorce lawyers from the perspective of three sisters Hannah, Nina and the youngest, Rose. Hannah and Nina are leading divorce and family lawyers at competing firms, while Rose is still searching for her place in life. Despite their strong career, the sisters' private lives are not exactly a bed of roses. Their father has been absent for thirty years and when he suddenly returns, this causes quite a stir. This is also made more difficult because they are simultaneously busy with big, complicated matters at work.

Family is the bridge between past and future.

The final season of The Split starts immediately in the first episode spicy and dramatic. Writer and creator Abi Morgan (River, The Hour, Suffragette) has crafted a vivid screenplay for her sublime actors. In particular, the fine interaction between Nicola Walker (Hannah Stern-Defoe) and Stephen Mangan (Nathan Stern) is excellent. That goes for almost the entire cast. Half star extra.

We see a thoroughly British drama, full of uncomfortable and painful situations from the lives of matriarch and daughters Defoe. The law firm where two sisters and mother work, together with the clientele, creates new family law problems. And the necessary variety and liveliness. The humor has faded further into the background, so that the open-mindedness has disappeared a bit from The Split. Sometimes maybe just a little too much soap opera, but (melo)drama cannot get much better and more intense.
