The Flame Trees of Thika plot

In 1913, eleven-year-old Elspeth Grant emigrated with her mother from England to Kenya, where her parents had a coffee plantation. Her father, who had gone some time earlier to prepare for the arrival of his family, is waiting for mother and daughter. Elspeth has to deal with a different country and a different culture. She has trouble adjusting.
