The 100 plot

This show takes place 100 years in the future, when the Earth has been abandoned due to radioactivity. The last surviving humans live in the Ark orbiting the planet, but the Ark does not have eternal life. So the repressive regime picks up 100 redundant juvenile delinquents and sends them to Earth to see if the planet is still habitable.

Ook dit derde seizoen van The 100 is weer uitstekend. De eerste aflevering is genieten geblazen, maar daarna kent de serie een dipje. Het is vooral even wennen aan dat hele A.I. verhaal, en het feit dat de groep grotendeels is opgesplitst vond ik ook niet geweldig werken. Overigens lijkt het in het begin ook iets te veel op een goedkope wannabe versie van Game of Thrones. Tot aan +- aflevering 10 blijft het een vrij constant niveau. Hier en daar en mindere aflevering, hier en daar een betere. Vanaf aflevering 10 wordt het uitstekende niveau dat The 100 in seizoen 2 behaalde gelukkig opnieuw behaald, en is het opnieuw genieten van heerlijke actie, keihard geweld en bizarre plotwendingen. Devon Bostick (Jasper) zet wat mij betreft dit seizoen de beste acteerprestatie neer. Overigens is ook Pike een héél tof character. Als anti-hero zelfs nog tien keer beter dan als villain. Daarom ook zo jammer dat 'ie zo onwaardig aan zijn einde komt. Had nog wel veel meer van hem willen zien. Roan is eveneens een goede toevoeging aan de lijst met characters, en de (eenmalige?) terugkeer van Lexa in de seizoensfinale was geweldig bad-ass. Blij dat we in ieder geval een seizoen 4 krijgen, want dit derde seizoen bewijst dat de rek er nog lang niet uit is.

This third season of The 100 is again excellent.

The first episode is a lot of fun, but after that the series has a dip. It takes a bit of getting used to the whole AI story, and the fact that the group is largely split didn't work great for me either. Incidentally, it also looks a bit too much like a cheap wannabe version of Game of Thrones in the beginning. Until +- episode 10 it remains a fairly constant level. Here and there a lesser episode, here and there a better one. From episode 10, the excellent level that The 100 achieved in season 2 is happily achieved again, and it is once again enjoying great action, hard violence and bizarre plot twists.

Devon Bostick (Jasper) puts down the best acting performance this season in my opinion. By the way, Pike is also a very cool character. As anti-hero even ten times better than as villain. That's why it's such a shame that it comes to its end so unworthy . Would have liked to see a lot more from him. Roan is also a good addition to the character list, and the (one-off?) return of Lexa in the season finale was pretty bad-ass.

Glad we're getting at least a season 4, because this third season proves that the stretch is far from over.
