In season 2, The 100 completely finds its own identity... Namely raw, dark and brutal. Almost every character undergoes drastic developments, which leads to some very dramatic scenes. Again in each episode progress is made in story development and there are no 'fillers'. The acting is still good. Johnny Whitworth is a nice addition to the cast and performs 'Cage' in an excellent way. Possibly the best actor in the series to date, although he faces stiff competition from Eliza Taylor (Clarke), Bob Morley (Bellamy), Isaiah Washington (Jaha) and Richard Harmon (Murphy).

The series continues to surprise... Both in terms of daring decisions in writing, deaths of characters but occasionally also in bizarreness (the 'King Kong' episode). In any case, it never gets boring. Showing up at the end of season 2, the next season again takes quite a drastic change. Curious how it will turn out, but given the quality of the past 2 seasons, I'm confident that season 3 will also be excellent.

An improvement from the first season in every way. You notice that people try to deepen the characters a bit more. That in itself is positive, but it does not work out equally well for everyone. Finn knows how to develop into a very annoying character. So I recognize myself very much in the above story of jacobine_rodijk. The first half struggles with some improbabilities that raised my eyebrows. Fortunately, a daring twist puts an end to that endless bullshit.

From the second half, the season is on track. Tensions between the Grounds and the Sky People are on the rise as they must work together to take on Mount Weather. The adult cast (Turco, Washington and Cusick) is again doing well, but the youngsters also come into their own better. Characters like Bellamy, Murphy and Raven in particular stood out in a positive way. Newcomers such as father and son Wallace and the mysterious Lexa are also nice additions. What I really liked were the risky choices that were made. It is true that the protagonists are not always sympathetic, but that makes The 100 different from many other series. The 'good guys' also make brutal decisions here that are normally only reserved for antagonists.

I'm not an outspoken fan yet, but this second season has definitely done the series well. It also makes sure that I'm definitely going to start the third season, because I'm curious how this will develop.

3.5*
