Manhunt plot

Manhunt follows Jim Fitzgerald, who is at the beginning of a promising career. He is asked to unmask the mysterious Unabomber. Fitzgerald is a new criminal profiler and the newest member of the Unabom Task Force. He faces an uphill battle against the bureaucracy of the UTF as his maverick ideas and new approaches to forensic linguistics are rejected. The mounting tension shows a struggle between a profiler, who loses sight of the reality around him, against a criminal who is trying to expose the reality of society.

Amerikaans drama rond de bommenlegger van de Olympische Spelen van Atlanta in 1996. Meteen verwarring in het eerste half uur! Ik heb dit toch al gezien? Dat klopt. Waar de film Richard Jewell (2019) van Clint Eastwood draait om het wel en (vooral) wee van Jewell, pakt Manhunt: Deadly Games (2020) na de eerste aflevering een iets andere afslag; we volgen hier in 10 afleveringen de jacht op de dader. En zoals het Amerikaans drama betaamt, gaat dat van dik hout zaagt men planken, spijkers en buizen. En springstof. Zo wordt de FBI nogal clichématig neergezet. Je kent het wel met al die macho-law&order-bazen en tegenwerkende krachten van binnenuit. Inclusief opdringerige en infantiele mediaverslaggevers. Seen it, been there. Het acteerwerk is wisselend en het verhaal kan net voldoende boeien. In vergelijking met het uitstekende seizoen 1 Manhunt: Unabomber, is dit seizoen beduidend minder. En dan vooral veel minder spannend.

The acting is variable and the story can be just enough captivating. Compared to the excellent season 1 Manhunt: Unabomber, this season is significantly less. And much less exciting.

Heb deze reeks, deel 2 van Manhunt, gisteren afgesloten... Naar tevredenheid. Vindt de 10 afleveringen vermakelijker dan de film Richard Jewell. Gezien dmv Viaplay. Eigenlijk abonnement op genomen vanwege F1, maar toen ik deze tegenkwam in hun aanbod, dacht ik, vooruit, Seizoen 1 kon mij bekoren, dus deze ook maar ff proberen. En naar volle tevredenheid!

Finished this series, part 2 of Manhunt, yesterday...

Satisfactorily.

Find the 10 episodes more entertaining than the Richard Jewell movie.

Actually subscribed because of F1, but when I came across this one in their offer, I thought, go ahead, Season 1 could appeal to me, so give this one a try.
