A pretty successful series. Most of the series revolves around Shane and Ilya. And then suddenly a second storyline appears—out of nowhere, really. The fear of coming out is present, but not realistically portrayed (kissing in a public stairwell, sex with a colleague in the next room or with the curtains open). It's not until around episode fivethat feelings are truly explored. Until then, it's mainly the repulsion and attraction by Ilya that commands attention, along with the (quite extensive) intimate scenes. It's a shame that some supporting roles (Rose as a best friend, Shane's father, and friends) aren't further developed. They're suddenly nowhere to be seen.

What a brilliant series, I can't get enough of it! The more I repeat it, the more details stand out: scenes or remarks with double meanings that recur in other scenes, comments that are metaphors for deeper feelings, the many sultry/longing glances, very well-chosen music (pay attention to the lyrics and changing rhythms), beautiful cinematography with wonderful use of warm and cold colors. Every time I discover more beautiful things. I recommend listening to the series with headphones, then you hear even more softly whispered words during intimate scenes. The slow-burning relationship between two rival honky-tongue stars, where misogyny plays no role and therefore appeals to so many women. The main characters are so well described by Rachel Reid and phenomenally played by the two stunning lead actors. They deliver stellar performances and elevate non-verbal communication to an art form. Director Jacob Tierney has delivered a masterpiece: sensitive, suspenseful, sexy, humorous, dramatic, loving, meaningful. I can't wait for season 2 to come out; we will have to be patient. In the meantime, I might as well read the books or listen to them......
