1842: The English market town of Cranford, County Cheshire, is on the brink of major change. Because from the industrial city of Manchester the railway is steadily advancing. It not only brings progress, but also causes unrest among the inhabitants. Fear of guest workers, fear of the decline of norms and values and of feelings of insecurity. The young doctor Frank Harrison came to practice in Cranford that year. His arrival also causes a lot of noise.
