Burden of Truth plot
Successful lawyer Joanna Hanley returns to her small hometown of Millwood - a prairie town with an industrial past and an uncertain future - to represent an important client in a case against some sick girls in high school. She handles her case quickly and efficiently, crushing the girls and their lawyer - her former classmate Billy Crawford. After winning her case, she discovers that the girls are sicker than everyone thought. They need help. Joanna also realizes that she may have unresolved personal cases in town. Although she is a successful partner in a large law firm, she cannot ignore the feeling that something in her life is not right.
