Clever, surprisingly strong restart of this superior British detective series after the traumatic denouement of the previous season. The characters, both familiar and new, come into their own and the mystery, although not the most fascinating in the series, is again ingeniously put together. I saw it gloomy at the end of the fourth season, but this way the series can last for a while.

Definitely worth watching, a few acting performances could have been better with me but it was quite exciting. I have to be honest, I still prefer Nicola Walker but otherwise, certainly not the season too much....

Creator and screenwriter Chris Lang (The Thief, His Wife and the Canoe) has also turned the fifth season of Unforgotten into a gripping drama. Cassie Stuart (Nicola Walker) still echoes, but the interplay between new DCI Jess James (Sinéad Keenan) and DI Sunny Khan (Sanjeev Bhaskar) is tantalizing and moving. Chris Lang - previously nominated for a BAFTA award in the best drama series category for season 4 - has a strong body of work to his name. The fifth season of Unforgotten fits in seamlessly with that, and has all the ingredients to be able to move forward for a while. The line between perpetrators and victims is thin, but that is precisely what makes Unforgotten one of the best British drama series. Made with passion and above all compassion.
