The fourth season of The Morning Show (TMS) takes place more often outside the studio, giving creators Jay Carson (House of Cards) and Kerry Ehrin (Bates Motel) more freedom in the storylines. This doesn't necessarily make for a better season. Just like the four seasons, the quality of the episodes in season 4 fluctuates considerably. The top brass at network UBN now consists of vicious and devious women, who behave like old, bargaining white men. The themes—an environmental scandal, the Olympics, family ties—sometimes seem a bit too contrived and contrived in this fourth season. Yet, TMS is once again juicy, soapy, and sexy, and it goes all out. Even without the wit and depth of the third and best season in particular.
