Was almost impossible to top the first season. It certainly didn't work either. But still it's an excellent show. Have you processed Covid nicely?

S2 from The Morning Show (TMS) builds seamlessly on the first season. Remarkable because this second season has been completely rewritten in response to the pandemic. But again drama, a bit of humor, countless iPhones in the picture, a lot of superficial exterior, a smooth story and characters that are often neurotic. TMS is slick, the acting is good and we get a picture of a media organization in the US today. Again kudos to Billy Crudup, who plays his part with gusto. Wonderfully elusive. A good find are the beautiful scenes around Lake Como in Italy where Mitch Kessler (Steve Carell) is temporarily staying. Hats off to the production designers; the entire season was filmed in Los Angeles/California!

There are also quite a few downsides this season. The feeling comes over me that I'm watching 10 episodes of a reservation full of wonderful characters. In that sense, the comparison with The Voice is urgent, because sexual intimidation echoes strongly in TMS too. The turn chosen in episode 8 seems quite forced. Alex Levy (Jennifer Anniston) gives a minute-long monologue about corona and her resurrection in episode 10. I'm not looking forward to it. What I'm waiting for is more satire and sharp edges. Like for example in Succession, or even The Loudest Voice. With no real cliffhangers, we roll smoothly to S3 in this way. Missed opportunity.
