Jack Ryan season 1

great entertainment,

Not as hip and flashy as Homeland, but because of that the potential was slightly higher.
However, that potential is not fully realized. It soon becomes clear that Jack Ryan is one step ahead with boss Suleiman. Suleiman is a mystery with a lot of money, steel balls, and a mastermind.

We see Suleiman's mastermind in the first attack in the church. Quite an intense start followed by a wonderful cat and mouse game between Jack and Suleiman. Really nothing wrong with that. It is therefore a bit of a shame that things go a bit like a night candle when the master plan of this Bin Laden 2.0 goes up in smoke because he is simply shot dead.

Missed opportunity to take this series to the next level. I mean, we've been following this guy for 8 episodes. Who see his motives, and get no sympathy, but respect for his stature. It started out so dark with the whole Ebola thing so I certainly expected everyone in that hospital to breathe in a mini Chernobyl. What a big cliffhanger that was.

Instead, each season gets its "own" story. Nothing wrong with that at all, the series doesn't bore for a second.

3.5*
