Trainwreck: Woodstock '99 plot

Woodstock '99 was supposed to be a millennial celebration of peace, love and great music. Instead, the festival degenerated into an epic drama of fires, riots and destruction. Using rare insider footage and eyewitness interviews with an impressive roster of festival staff, performers and attendees, this docuseries goes behind the scenes to reveal the egos, greed and music that fueled three days of utter chaos.

Trainwreck: Woodstock '99 season 1

Excellent documentary about the 1999 edition of the Woodstock music festival. Lots of impressive archive footage of the chaos and riots that arose here. The decisions that were made for profit by the organization and the consequences that ensued from them are fairly well discussed here. Also an excellent time document.

Trainwreck: Woodstock '99 season 1

This is what you get when you put a few hundred thousand excited youngsters together in a kind of concentration camp in the scorching heat. Fascinating to see how much energy is released in that huge mosh pit in front of the stage. Different times, yes. But the makers could have elaborated a bit more on the causes and consequences of this chaos. It's a little too easy for me to put the blame on someone like Fred Durst of Limp Bizzkit. Have you ever seen them and also Korn at Lowlands. Hard-hitting, uplifting bands, but the atmosphere remained pleasant in the tent. What kind of drugs were used? Have lessons been learned? Can this happen again? I am mostly left with questions...
