I saw it completely in one day. Obviously the spirit wasn't that of '69, that's for sure! But the organizer had done a bad job of outsourcing everything to subcontractors, those subcontractors could simply drive up the prices until it became unaffordable. It was completely different from '69, there was no love & peace... more rape and pawing by those certain tough men, who thought they could do anything. The organizer had shit in his eyes because he laughed everything off, pretended nothing was wrong. It's not because he did the first edition of '69 that it went like '69. That's what a number of people said during the interviews, they even warned him in advance not to organize the next edition, he didn't listen. Money was more important! With all the consequences, that you had no control over anything... not the prices of drinks and food, the crowd... too little security, untrained security... Really, amateurish!

Cluster**k: Woodstock '99

Interesting documentary about one of the biggest festivals ever held. What was supposed to be a 3 day long festival full of love and beautiful music ended in a debacle. Partly thanks to the extremely amateurish organisation, because everything revolved around money. A simple bottle of water cost 4 dollars, while it was sweltering hot. Food was extremely expensive and there were far too few shaded areas and toilets. Then there was also far too few security people present and so this party could only end in complete chaos and that also happened on day 2.

The documentary shows with beautiful images how the party came about, what happened when, etc. You see interviews with the organization, the festival goers, the media and even artists. Overall a nice documentary.

3.5 stars.

This is what you get when you put a few hundred thousand excited youngsters together in a kind of concentration camp in the scorching heat. Fascinating to see how much energy is released in that huge mosh pit in front of the stage. Different times, yes. But the makers could have elaborated a bit more on the causes and consequences of this chaos. It's a little too easy for me to put the blame on someone like Fred Durst of Limp Bizzkit. Have you ever seen them and also Korn at Lowlands. Hard-hitting, uplifting bands, but the atmosphere remained pleasant in the tent. What kind of drugs were used? Have lessons been learned? Can this happen again? I am mostly left with questions...

Excellent documentary about the 1999 edition of the Woodstock music festival. Lots of impressive archive footage of the chaos and riots that arose here. The decisions that were made for profit by the organization and the consequences that ensued from them are fairly well discussed here. Also an excellent time document.
