Age of Samurai: Battle for Japan plot
Age of Samurai follows the story of Date Masamune. An infamous samurai who fought in Japan 400 years ago. He was known as the "one-eyed dragon" because as a child he put out his own eye after being infected with measles. His influence is still felt all these years later. The series focuses on the era when Japan was not yet under central authority and warlords attacked each other with brutal violence. Through vivid reenactments and commentary, they bring to life the tumultuous history and power struggles of belligerent 16th-century feudal Japan.

Nice, interesting series. Had heard about Oda Nobunaga and the Sengoku period every now and then and always wanted to read or see more about it, so when this documentary appeared on Netflix I immediately added it to my list.
It's been a while since I've seen it, but the documentary mainly consists of acting. It is not a documentary in which they portray all kinds of excavations or ruins or the like. It really is a retelling through acting. Important scenes from that time (including battlefields) are perfectly re-enacted. In the background you can hear well-known historians commenting for clarification and between scenes they also regularly appear.
I thought the acting was good and the costumes and weaponry were nicely done. Sometimes I wondered if the outfits for Darth Vader and the stormtroopers from Star Wars might have been inspired by these outfits. In some scenes they look quite similar 
Anyway, in short: entertaining, beautifully made, and informative. It took some getting used to the sudden death of Oda Nobunaga, but the series picks up well after that.
I hope they make a similar series about China that used to go through a similar period (Sanguo period).
