I have now also watched the second season for a second time. I have to say I got into it a bit slower than the first season. There are a ton of characters introduced this season: Stannis, Melisandre, Margaery, Brienne, Ser Davos, Yara, and many more. This is done in a fine way, but keeps the tempo a bit slow. For example, you have only seen some camps in three or four episodes.

Production has clearly become more expensive. In Season 1, the great battle was completely left out of the picture, but we can see it in all its glory. It is not inferior to the average historical films. In this season, like the entire first half of this series, Tyrion once again steals the show. A very nicely developed character, played by a brilliant actor.

Still the same feeling as with season 1. Still, just like with season 1, the season finale convinced me to watch the next third season. I only give a 4.0 for the first two seasons because of the great storyline with plot twists. But yeah, I'll admit that I'm starting to like the series anyway. Hopefully the good ratings from seasons 3 and 4 will prove themselves true.

“Power is a curious thing. Power resides where men believe it resides. It's a trick, a shadow on the wall. And, a very small man can cast a very large shadow”

Season 2 finished for the second time today. I think this season is a small step back from season 1. There are quite a few new characters introduced this season which can cause some confusion. It also opens up some new storylines, which aren't always that interesting. Including the entire “Qarth” storyline, I could be stolen. As well as with Jon Snow and the wildlings.

The season opens with a good first episode. Followed by a decent 2nd episode, but the episodes after that up to episode 9 'Blackwater' are slow. The 2nd season therefore mainly survives through episode 9, where we experience the first major battle of GoT. The battle was very well put together. You're actually cheering for Stannis because you'd rather have Joffrey be beheaded. Only, at the same time, are you also afraid that something will happen to Tyrion. The battle also ended, with a goosebumps moment. Stannis was winning, but last moment, Tywin suddenly shows up with house Tyrell. Making the Lannisters win the battle. Was absolutely not on their side, but was fat.

The budget has also increased considerably this season, the settings look better and visually it is also an improvement. Ramin Djawadi's score also remains phenomenal. I always listen to the credits again, because of the wonderful score.

Furthermore, in this season Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister) really stole the show. As a hand of the king he is at his best and the dynamics between him & Bronn are top notch! What was also brilliant was the dynamic between Tywin & Arya, really great writing! Every scene between them was interesting.
