The Kennedys of Massachusetts plot

In 1906, John Francis Kennedy, aka "Honeyfitz," was named mayor of Boston. Joseph Kennedy is then seventeen and has a crush on the then fifteen-year-old Rose Fitzgerald, the daughter of John Francis. They later marry and Joseph makes a career as a politician. They have nine children and Rose makes it clear to Joe that from now on she will follow the rules of the Church regarding birth control; so abstinence. This is something Joe finds difficult to accept and he seeks solace elsewhere, including in Hollywood where he hangs out with Gloria Swanson. During his ambassadorship in England, he asks President Roosevelt to withdraw his declaration of war against the Germans. Meanwhile, JFK also appears on the scene, who is enlisted in the Navy.
