In the Dark plot

As DI Helen Weeks struggles with her pregnancy, she and her partner Detective Paul are, to her horror, sent to the place where she grew up: Polesford, Derbyshire. Two girls have been kidnapped and the man arrested for this is married to Helen's childhood friend Linda Bates. As a result, Linda is at the center of a media storm and the local police force is under enormous pressure. But is the arrested man guilty? And why is Helen so determined to help Linda when she's avoided Polesford all these years?
