Taika Waititi has no idea what to expect from Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3

Thor: Love and Thunder director Taika Waititi has revealed that he has no idea what the plans are for the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3.

In the fourth instalment of the Thor franchise, the Guardians of the Galaxy wee present at the start of the movie.

Thor, meanwhile, will appear in the third Guardians outing.

Even though a lot of collaboration is required between Marvel producers and directors in order to ensure continuity, Waititi hasn't been made aware of the creative plans for Guardians 3 from James Gunn.

"No, I still have no idea what that film's about. I never read a script, I never talked to James about that film," he told Digital Spy.

"All I did was I wrote what I thought the characters sounded like, sent those pages to James and he was like: 'Star-Lord wouldn't say that'," he continued, explaining that Gunn helped with Thor: Love and Thunder.

"The same thing with Thor on Infinity War and Endgame, I came in just to help with the way Thor speaks and the scriptwriting on that, so 'This is how Thor would come into the scene, this is how Thor would comment on that'.

"It's really cool that we as directors and writers in the MCU get to share that information and help each other out. Apart from that, I didn't really care to know anything about any of the other films. It's so stressful just concentrating on one film."

Marvel collaboration

Due to the huge number of storylines, characters and separate directors that are working on the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there needs to be massive communication between all parties.

Waititi says he relies heavily upon Marvel president Kevin Fiege for input.

"When you hear about other films and what's happening, you're like: 'Oh my God, I wish I was making that film' or you're like: 'Oh my God, I wish I didn't know that because now I can't put this thing in my film'" he said.

"My job is to do whatever I can to put as much of myself into the film and then rely on Marvel and Kevin, especially, to say: 'You gotta not do that because four years from now, I've got a movie coming out that I need that character so you can't kill them.'"
