Harrison Ford is no stranger to playing the President of the United States.
In 1997, Ford starred in Air Force One. The action thriller featured Ford as President James Marshall who is forced to take on a group of Russian terrorists who have taken control of the presidential plane.
His performance was a highlight of the 1990s classic, and 26 years later he will play the president again.
Ford was announced to play General Thaddeus Ross in Captain America: New World Order as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It has since been revealed that Ross is actually the POTUS in the movie which means he is in a position of power up against Sam Wilson's Cap.
Marvel president Kevin Fiege said that filming on New World Order would commence soon, and commented on the honour of working with Ford.
"We start filming relatively soon," he revealed.
"I'm sure anyone you've ever talked with about Harrison Ford says this, but it's unbelievable that we get to meet and talk with him and that he's embracing this role. He's tireless with the amount of work that he does. This is certainly a big part for Thaddeus Ross. He's the president of the United States in the film. And with Harrison, you think about Air Force One and you think about some of his confrontations with the president in Clear and Present Danger.
"There's a dynamic between President Ross and Sam Wilson. They have a history together, but in this film, we'll be seeing the dynamic between Captain America and the president of the United States in a way that is just incredible."
Will Harrison Ford play Red Hulk?
William Hurt sadly passed away in March of 2022 after portraying Ross in a handful of MCU projects including The Incredible Hulk and Captain America: Civil War.
In the comic books, General Ross actually becomes the Red-Hulk, so it is possible that Ford could come on board as a major villain in Thunderbolts or New World Order.
The Thunderbolts cast includes Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Wyatt Russell as John Walker/U.S. Agent, Olga Kurylenko as Antonia Dreykov/Taskmaster, David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, Hannah John-Kamen as Ava Starr/Ghost and Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine.
When asked by ComicBook.com if Ford will eventually become the Red-Hulk, Marvel Studios' Vice President of Production Nate Moore replied:
"I mean, I think you're going to have to wait and see. You know what I mean? But Harrison Ford, we couldn't be more excited. Obviously, when you have Han Solo or Indiana Jones involved in your movie, it just raises the game. So, we're excited to see Mackie and Harrison Ford in scenes together. I think it's going to be fantastic."
Definitely a tease of Red-Hulk, then.
