Marvel isn't going through a great time at the moment post Avengers: Endgame.
The box office success has declined as well as the critical reception for its movies and TV shows.
Its latest release, The Marvels, is set to be a box office disappointment, while most of the reviews are lukewarm at best.
And, things on Captain America: Brave New World are worrying, as according to industry insider Jeff Sneider of The Mot Mic podcast, extensive reshoots have been pencilled in for the period between January 2024 and May 2024.
Three major sequences will be reshot or have been cut from the movie completely.
At the conclusion of Avengers: Endgame, Steve Rogers made the decision to travel back in time and stay in the past in order to stay with his former love, Agent Carter.
It was a perfect end to the character's arc in the MCU, but it opened questions about Cap's future. Anthony Mackie has been given the reins and the shield following the events of Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and he'll star in Captain America: Brave New World.
The movie was previously titled Captain America: New World Order but this was changed due to that phrase's connotations with antisemitism.
A new Captain America
Steve Rogers, played by Chris Evans, was a hugely popular Cap, so Mackie has his work cut out, but the actor has explained how Sam Wilson is a different animal to Steve.
"With my Cap, he's not a superhero," he told Yahoo.
"He doesn't have a super serum, so his superpower is his humanity. I think with him, he has to come to the stage with a very different understanding of what it is to be a good guy, or be a bad guy, and what are the decisions that make you toe that line in the way that you do?
"I just see him as more of a humane Cap, as opposed to a Cap of judgement, where 'this is right, and this is wrong.' There are decisions that make you choose right or wrong,"
Captain America: New World Order will be released in February of 2025.
