Valerie plot
"Was she guilty of the sins for which she stood accused?"
John Garth is tried for fatally injuring his wife Valerie and murdering her parents. Garth's confession is a disappointment to Valerie: her adultery with Reverend Blake, the constant taunting. A combination of events that drove him to his actions. Valerie, however, confesses from her deathbed a terrible marriage with a lot of violence and the support of Reverend Blake during her marriage.
