A mediocre western, although it is rated very low here.
The story was pretty standard, but that didn't really bother me. Also the fact that it's all rather predictable didn't really matter.

What did bother me were some things that were really too simple for words. That's what I think of Zanti's escape... He was handcuffed and all, but just take off that boot and it's in the sacoche. Then he escapes, but he's stupid enough to crash into a tree! Of course, such things don't really help the marks I give to a movie.

However, I cannot fault John Wayne's performance: he acts, as I am used to, with great conviction. Also a plus in the film are the many chases. They don't look spectacular, but if you know that the film comes from 1934, I don't think it was badly filmed.

in summary: a not really memorable western with a John Wayne who doesn't do a bad job.

It is that this western is quite easy to look away from, is not really boring and sometimes has pretty nice pictures, but just like all those other short westerns from Lone Star, the quality is hard to find. The film consists of only plot to get to the end as quickly as possible. Moderate game too, although one can do little with this. A Wayne can manage with his charisma, but is not really memorable either. Furthermore, a typical plot where Wayne is seen as the crook just by chance and in the last shot he is suddenly married. 2.0*.
