Colonel Thaddeus Gearhart (Lancaster) must escort a shipment of liquor to the miners of Denver. Cora Templeton (Remick), the president of the mining community's abstainer club, wants the cargo destroyed. It comes to a head when booze-hungry Sioux Indians led by Chief Walks-Stooped-Over (Landau) attack the convoy.
